Milk and Cookies
Imagine
the aroma of baking cookies, the cosiness of the family
kitchen, the chatter among sisters, brothers, grandmas,
granddads, mums and dads, and the anticipation and
excitement of having friends come to visit. These 'at home'
moments are times to be shared and treasured. These 'at
home' moments are those captured in 'Milk and Cookies'.
Cooking in the kitchen, dusting and washing clothes offer
parents a natural time to guide their children in the 'hows'
of helping around the house.
Literature plays a role in capturing these moments as
well. Each page in the included literature books relates to
in-class activities, thus tying together music, movement and
literature. This fusion of learning modes heightens the
learning experience for your child.
We go on a pretend trip to "The Grocery Store", which
satisfies the need to move! Waiting for toast to
pop up in
the toaster plays
with the fun of anticipation. An original
poem, "Cupcakes", invites the child
to engage the
imagination in pretend play.
Baking cookies, eating cupcakes, blowing on hot cross
buns, wiggling like jelly and making tea all are represented
in familiar songs and activities as well as in new songs and
activities.
